Hello NAPA membership,
I am taking the helm from LCDR John Conza and I wish to thank him for a successful 2013 NAPA conference. He and those that supported him put together a great conference at our nations capital and now that he is our post president I think we can count on him to share insight and prospective. For our future as I test the waters and push forward with our future plans and ideas I am asking for you to embrace possibilities.
For the 2014 year, I would like to propose an agenda to you and for us to have an open discussion regarding the discussion points that I am listing below. First, I wish to say that I feel privileged to represent you and that I will do my best to support who we are and what we represent in navy medicine. Our 2013 NAPA meeting was successful with a representation of 32 members at our NAPA meeting. Despite many paying out of there own pocket to be at the conference we shared ideas and accomplishments. This was a point not missed by our Admiral and our community advices who both took time out of their schedule to present to us the future of the MSC community. However, for us to proceed forward we will need to have an active interaction which means that lack of interaction equals inaction and inaction begs the question of existence. I have been a member supporting this organization for several years to include Awards Chair, Vice President, and now President. Let us continue to make good things happen and to promote our colleagues accomplishments .
1) Supervised or Collaborative (have we out grown the term "supervised")
2) Biannual reporting of the financial state of NAPA (July and January)
3) Payments for NAPA every other vs every year and should we make this an automatic deposit system
4) House of Delegates representation and the AAPA
5) Continued promoting of higher learning
I suspect that there are more items to be addressed but, I see these issues as a good start with a focus on the core of our organization. I am requesting from you to take some time to think about what it is that you would like NAPA to represent for you and to provide feed back.
